Fire is probably the oldest tool known to man, aside from a rock. How we’ve used fire over the years has changed…in this case for the better.BernzOMatic recently introduced their QuickFIRE Hand Torch and I like it for the simple reason that they’ve actually made useful improvements over the ‘older’ models.
The overall design of the tool is far more stable than torches of the past. Instead of being the ‘handle’ of the tool, the fuel canister has moved to the bottom of the redesigned tool. The new grip is just worlds apart from having to grasp the canister. Not only does it make more sense, it just feels better and safer. I felt like I had more control over the whole operation.

Because of its wider base design, it’s far more stable than traditional torches when sitting on a work surface. This makes me a lot more comfortable when I have to use both hands to hold a pipe or solder or both.
The nozzle tip is larger which yields a larger flame, resulting in 30% faster soldering times, according to the manufacturer. I found that it did, in fact, deliver more heat to the work (logically). This may have to do with the BernzOMatic max powered propylene fuel which is touted at burning 20% hotter than propane.

The fuel feed knob is located on the back of the tool and seems to be a bit more precise and responsive than feed knobs of old.
At $70, it’s a bit pricey, but worth it in terms of features and ease of use. It’ll make your other torch components obsolete.
BernzOMatic has done a great job of redesigning a tool – and not just putting lipstick on a pig.

to solder very heavy gauged sterling silver wire. I had spent over an hour yesterday *trying* to solder the various joints, which was extremely frustrating and difficult ... then the torch just sputtered out. I tried this torch this morning and was SO EXCITED.
I had been pointing my mini torch at each joint (and surrounding area) for literally 10 -15 mins with minimal success. However, the Quickfire heated my sterling and solder literally within 2 seconds! It was shocking and I called my hubbie to tell him how ecstatic
I was. This is my NEW FAVORITE tool!
