Brad Staggs

Brad Staggs is a licensed contractor and all-around tool guy. If he looks familiar to you, it’s probably because he spends a lot of time sharing his knowledge of tools and how to use them on TV and in print. He’s hosted shows for HGTV, DIY, and RFD-TV. And, he often appears as a guest expert on a variety of programs. In addition to writing for ToolSkool.com, Brad reviews products and tools for HGTVpro.com Weekly.

Brad also co-owns and operates a video production company that produces instructional and promotional videos on the subject he knows best – tools. He’s worked with Bostitch, Senco, Hickory Hardware, Bosch and a host of others.

In his "free" time, Brad is renovating his four bedroom home in Nashville by hand. "It’s a process," he says. "But it’s fun doing it all myself, from choosing the perfect sink to installing custom cabinets that I made downstairs in my shop." He adds, "The shop was the first thing I renovated, of course. First things first."

Beth Knott

Beth Knott

Beth Knott is the managing editor at ToolSkool.com. She has gained a lot of "tool cred" by writing and producing TV shows about tools and the people who love them. She was the executive producer of DIY Network’s Tools and Techniques and a writer/producer for Talk2DIY.

In addition to her duties at ToolSkool.com, Beth is a contributing writer at HOWTV.TV, a website devoted to tools and their use from a woman’s perspective.  A lot of Beth’s ideas for articles come out of the numerous tool company press events and trade shows she attends each year. Going to these sneak previews provided by the manufacturers enable her to check out and review new tools before they’re even on the market.

David Thiel

David Thiel

David Thiel has a license plate that refers to him as the "Tool Guy" and the title is justified. David has been a woodworker for over 30 years, and you should see some of the stunning pieces he’s built! He is also an author of several books including David Thiel’s Power Tool Maintenance and Woodshop Lust. And he’s working on a new book titled Arts & Crafts Furniture Anyone Can Build. In this book, David used benchtop shop tools and simple joinery so that all levels of woodworkers can have great results when building furniture.

As the host of DIY’s Tools and Techniques, David tried out every tool known to man (and woman)! You should have seen him use a log splitter. David is also the former Senior Editor (and full-time tool tester) for Popular Woodworking Magazine and is currently the Executive Editor for Popular Woodworking Books.

Pam Melton

Pam Melton

While working in the facilities department of WVU’s Ruby Memorial Hospital, Pam Melton was introduced to everything from locksets to pipe threaders.  That environment instilled a deep appreciation for a quality tool. Picking up a little hands-on here and there, the guys she worked with turned her into a confirmed tool junkie.

As the "paint lady" with Campbell Hausfeld’s Painting Systems category, she represented the voice of the user for 16 years.  Her understanding that life often doesn’t imitate the lab, made her investigate every facet of every type of painting project and the tools, supplies and equipment available.  Her unique perspective sees through the marketing-speak and looks at every product with the eyes of the worst end-user that a manufacturer can imagine – one with insatiable curiosity.
