Milwaukee’s compact, cordless blower just might blow away the competition!

put the Milwaukee M18 Blower (0884-20) to work:

The Milwaukee M18 Compact blower (Model 0884-20) surprised me as it arrived in a very small box. I figured it was something else instead of the blower I was hoping to use. It was, when I opened the box, that things went sideways as my wife laughed and uttered infamous wife type words: “It’s so small” she said. Of course being a man I chucked a battery in and flipped the power switch while pointing the blower directly at her. Also as a man, I failed to notice her newly styled hair until just before it was blown every which way. I won the battle but lost the war and didn’t even get a chance to explain the selector switch was only on the medium position. Oh, and that brings me to point out that this blower has 3 speed settings! Pretty amazing for a portable, cordless blower.

So what does this blower do and not do? First off it is not designed for the lawn and garden industry but that doesn’t mean it lacks air speed or volume. The M18 blower puts out great deal of high velocity air and my son used it to clear out our medium sized backyard of pepper tree leaves (read small and light). This blower is ideal for use in the shop for removing dirt, sawdust and cobwebs on a regular basis and grass clippings from the sidewalk after mowing.

I like that the price is kept low by not including a battery and charger with the blower because it’s likely you already have at least one other Milwaukee M18 cordless tool. Other nice features are that it breaks down for easy storage and it’s lightweight. I did notice a slight design flaw that doesn’t affect us lefties but if you are right handed the air intake is quite close to your shirt and it will block the intake. But hey, I was just glad to have a tool that works out better for Lefties!

Unlike David, I keep the extender attached to the blower so that it’s not so small! But like David, I agree that in this case big things do come in small packages.   This blower is the perfect weight to keep on hand in and around the shop and job site. As the facilities manager at a studio, I use it all the time to clean off the loading dock and the area around the shop.

Here’s what’s included with the blower:

  • Extension Nozzle

  • Universal Inflator / Deflator Adapter

At first I was hesitant to use the blower in the shop area in studio building because I thought it was a bad idea to stir up that much dust, but then I noticed that in addition to having the 3 speeds, the blower has a variable trigger! That makes it easy to gently move sawdust and other materials around without making a bigger mess.

There is also a lock switch that can be engaged with one hand to lock the trigger in the “on” position to reduce fatigue.

We didn’t bother to do time tests to see how long the blower would blow with the 4.0ah battery, because unlike a blower that you’d need to clear leaves all day long, this one is designed to be a portable clean-up tool. You’ll get plenty of time and plenty of power for doing those types of jobs.

Other specs:

  • 18V (Battery sold separately)

  • 5 Year warranty on the tool

  • It’s 20 ½” long and weighs 2.6 lbs.

  • The max air flow is 100 CFM or 160MPH

Brad and Author X both give this blower the Tool Skool seal of approval. Author X, says he wins because he’s left handed!
